Softball Recap: Navajo Prep Beats Zuni for Their Eighth Straight Win

Navajo Prep came tearing into Thursday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Zuni Thunderbirds. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Leilani Wood made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Navajo Prep got a massive performance out of Amia Salazar, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Isabella Yazzie, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Navajo Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .523 or higher in seven consecutive contests.

Navajo Prep's record is now 17-5. As for Zuni, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.
