Softball Recap: Continental Wins Going Away Against Cory-Rawson

The Continental Pirates got the win against the Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets on Thursday by a conclusive 14-1. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Gracie Homier was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Homier was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Searfoss, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mallorie Barnhart, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Continental kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Continental back to even at 6-6. As for Cory-Rawson, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Continental will face off against Holgate at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cory-Rawson, they will challenge Hardin Northern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Polar Bears have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
