Volleyball Recap: Ignacio's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Ignacio unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-match winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Dolores Bears, falling 3-0. The Bobcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

While Ignacio was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-23.

Alleah Neil paced Ignacio's offense, picking up ten kills. Neil got some help from Kelly Sirios and her 28 assists. Amira Montoya and Lainee Bradley kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Dolores found their leader in freshman Layla Mitchell, who had 18 digs. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Ignacio's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 18-4. As for Dolores, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1.

Coming up, Ignacio will head out on the road to take on Sargent at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dolores does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
