The Coolidge Bears will challenge the Seton Catholic Sentinels at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coolidge has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while Seton Catholic will come in with 11 straight wins.
Coolidge couldn't beat Florence on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Bears came up short against the Gophers, falling 24-8.
Aubriana Cavazos was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Kassidy Mitchell was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Seton Catholic got the win against Northwest Christian on Wednesday by a conclusive 15-4. The Sentinels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by ten runs or more this season.
Abbey Cota made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Seton Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwest Christian only posted an OBP of .423.
Seton Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Coolidge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-2.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Coolidge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Seton Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
