Baseball Recap: New Canaan Finds Home Field Redemption Against Ridgefield

New Canaan's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Trumbull on Monday. The Rams skirted past the Ridgefield Tigers 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Zak Joslin looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, New Canaan's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tristan MacAllister, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double. Maddox Hoffman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

New Canaan's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-11. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Ridgefield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

New Canaan will head out to square off against Danbury at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ridgefield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
