Gunn is 0-4 against Los Gatos since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Titans will look to defend their home field against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Gunn turned things around against Milpitas on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Trojans 7-6.
Lupita Flores Amaro was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Brown, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Los Gatos made easy work of Los Altos on Tuesday and carried off an 11-4 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Norquist was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Danica DeSantis looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Lily Young was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Kendall Feichtmeir was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Los Gatos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Los Gatos' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Gunn, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 7-12.
Gunn might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Los Gatos in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
