Basketball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 62-18 defeat at the hands of the Whitehouse Wildcats. The match marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Marshall saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ta'Tteara Culberson posted ten points and three steals.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Whitehouse, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Marshall and Whitehouse could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Marshall (ranked 1072nd) will meet Nacogdoches (ranked 245th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Whitehouse (ranked 302nd) will meet Jacksonville (ranked 85th) at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
