Baseball Recap: Center Victorious

Center proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Marysville Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since February 28th.

Center saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaidon Howerton-Abernathy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The Cougars are undefeated when Howerton-Abernathy posts two or more runs, but 7-9-1 otherwise. Jason Bergman was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Center now has a winning record of 10-9-1. As for Marysville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18-1 record this season.

Center will venture away from home to square off against Sutter at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. Marysville will be paying especially close attention to Center's match: after Center faces off against Sutter, they'll take on Marysville again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
