Baseball Game Preview: Vanden Vikings vs. Sacramento Dragons

The Vanden Vikings will challenge the Sacramento Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vanden will be strutting in after a victory while Sacramento will be coming in after a defeat.

Vanden took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Vacaville.

Ryan Cahalan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Cahalan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariano Gonzalez, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Vanden's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 5-14 when he doesn't). Meanwhile, Sacramento was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They came up short against Pioneer, falling 15-1.

Sacramento saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gayland Lee, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Vanden's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Sacramento, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.
