Basketball Game Preview: Vista Grande Spartans vs. Sunnyside Blue Devils

The Vista Grande Spartans will challenge the Sunnyside Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Vista Grande had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least 55 points, but Casa Grande put an end to it two weeks ago. Vista Grande was beaten by Casa Grande 59-28. The contest marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside came up short against Ironwood Ridge on Tuesday and fell 66-54. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

With the defeat, Vista Grande broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-6. As for Sunnyside, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Vista Grande was dealt a bruising 70-42 defeat at the hands of Sunnyside in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Thankfully for Vista Grande, Marcos Fuentes (who shot 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time.
