League recap: Oak Lawn leads league with three wins since last week

South Suburban - Red league recap: 5/22/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Oak Lawn, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Spartans beat Thornton Fractional North 7-2 and Leyden 4-3.

Danny Estrella was on fire this week, as he led South Suburban - Red with a .556 average with five RBIs. Meanwhile, Richards put together a 2-1 week.

The Bulldogs' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 18 hits and six walks to lead the league in both categories.

Richards, the season leader in runs scored at 249, added to its total with a league-high 32 runs this week.

Five batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Harley Miller, who collected four hits in five at bats for a .800 average.



Eric Hall, Charlie Zeschke and Anthony Smith hit home runs this week.

Estrella drove in four runners on Thursday in the Bulldogs' 18-2 victory over Hillcrest. He went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.
