Recap: Mountain Range Mustangs vs. Prairie View Thunderhawks
There's no place like home for the Mountain Range Mustangs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Prairie View on Friday by a score of 77-65 (the very same score they lost by the week prior). Given Mountain Range's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Prairie View is ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mataeo Jourdan was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Helsel, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Several Thunderhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Randall Rogos, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Javon Brewton was another key contributor, scoring 24 points.
Mountain Range's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points per game. As for Prairie View, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Mountain Range will head out on the road to face off against Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Legacy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Prairie View, they will be playing at home against Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
