Baseball Recap: Lamphere Has No Trouble Against Croswell-Lexington

While Lamphere put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Croswell-Lexington. The Rams put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Ethan Malak looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Lamphere let Gavin Abbott and Aidan Grzsikowski run wild. Abbott scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Grzsikowski scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Grzsikowski is becoming a predictor of Lamphere's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Henry Whalen also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Lamphere always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lamphere's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Croswell-Lexington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Lamphere will be playing in front of their home fans against Utica at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chieftains' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Croswell-Lexington, they will head out on the road to take on Yale at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Pioneers surely won't give up without a fight.
