Basketball Recap: Covington Comes Up Short

Covington was the 28-27 winner over Glen Oaks when they last played one another on Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Covington Lions were outmatched by the Glen Oaks Panthers and fell 66-34. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Panthers are ranked 108th).

Despite the defeat, Covington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore John'Tavia Baham posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Anamaria Cerniglia, who earned six points.

Covington's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Glen Oaks, the victory got them back to even at 15-15.

Covington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Glen Oaks, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Port Allen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Glen Oaks is facing Port Allen at the right time seeing as Port Allen is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
