Basketball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

The Columbia Cougars lost 73-48 to the Colonia Patriots on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Patriots are ranked sixth).

Columbia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points per game. As for Colonia, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Columbia will welcome Newark Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Colonia, they will take on Monroe Township at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
