Softball Recap: New Smyrna Beach Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but New Smyrna Beach had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Bishop Moore Hornets 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Barracudas have posted since February 18th.

Valerie Hausknecht was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Maraiah Robinson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

New Smyrna Beach has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Bishop Moore, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.
