Basketball Recap: Johnsonville Takes a Loss

If Johnsonville was riding high fresh off their 58-37 takedown of Lake View back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Johnsonville Flashes had to suffer through a 72-37 loss at the hands of the Waccamaw Warriors. The Flashes haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Johnsonville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taysawn Brown, who posted six points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jackson Eaddy, who put up seven points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Johnsonville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Waccamaw was led to victory by Connor Hart and Sutton Cooper. Hart went 7 of 10 on his way to 19 points, while Cooper had 11 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiki Reisdorff, who posted ten points.

Johnsonville's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Waccamaw, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnsonville will face off against Latta at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Waccamaw, they will square off against Georgetown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Georgetown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season.
