Volleyball Game Preview: Desert Hills Thunder vs. Cottonwood Colts

The Desert Hills Thunder will challenge the Cottonwood Colts at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Desert Hills will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Desert Hills got the win against Cedar by a conclusive 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17, 25-21.

Desert Hills found their leader in sophomore Ty Richins, who had ten digs and two assists.

Desert Hills was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Cottonwood had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Grizzlies. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Colts as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cottonwood was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-22, 23-25, 24-26, 25-16, 15-7.

Desert Hills pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Cottonwood, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Desert Hills beat Cottonwood 3-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Thunder have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
