Preview: Lakeside Knights vs. Wellpinit Redskins
The Lakeside Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Wellpinit Redskins at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lakeside sitting on 16 straight victories dating back to last season and Wellpinit on 21 (dating back to last season).
Lakeside scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by Timberline at home to the tune of 96-28. With Lakeside ahead 61-18 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Lakeside can attribute much of their success to Brutis Sijohn , who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists, and Tyson Charley , who scored 21 points along with eight assists and five steals. That's the first time this season that Sijohn posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Hendrix, who scored 19 points.
Wellpinit has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 28 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 77-46 win over Valley Christian. Given Wellpinit's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Valley Christian is ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lakeside's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39.45 points. As for Wellpinit, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Everything came up roses for Lakeside against Wellpinit in their previous matchup back in December of 2018 as the team secured a 72-44 victory. Will Lakeside repeat their success, or does Wellpinit have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
