Baseball Game Preview: Port Jefferson Royals vs. Mattituck Tuckers

For the second straight game, Port Jefferson will face off against Mattituck. The Royals will head out on the road to take on the Tuckers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Port Jefferson took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mattituck, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Royals have posted since April 16th.

For Mattituck's part, Ben Voegel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was Voegel's first of the season.

With the win, Port Jefferson broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-13. As for Mattituck, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-16.
