Recap: Barron Collier Cougars vs. Dunbar Tigers
Even though the Barron Collier Cougars have not done well against the Dunbar Tigers recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Barron Collier breezed by Dunbar on the road to the tune of 70-43. Given Barron Collier's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Dunbar is ranked 619th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Spencer Clayton was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with nine assists and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Gabe Markhart was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Barron Collier's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Dunbar, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barron Collier will take on First Baptist Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games. As for Dunbar, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bonita Springs at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
