Baseball Recap: Fairview Find Success

Fairview posted their closest win since April 16th on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Green Bobcats. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 6-2 win the Bobcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Tevin Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. Fairview is 4-1 when Smith allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jeffery Everetts, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Fairview's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 6-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Kaylor, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

With the victory, Fairview broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-9. As for Green, their record now sits at 17-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Fairview will square off against Boyd County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Green, they will challenge Ironton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
