Basketball Game Preview: Second Baptist Eagles vs. St. Pius X Panthers

The Second Baptist Eagles will take on the St. Pius X Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Second Baptist is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season.

St. Pius X will be up against a hot Second Baptist squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles breezed past Alamo Heights to the tune of 60-33 on Saturday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season.

Second Baptist had a senior duo take command as Casey Krueger shot 60% from the field on her way to 21 points and five rebounds and Grace Wehring went 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points along with six boards and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Krueger has scored all season. Charly Schmidt was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, St. Pius X took a blow against Deer Park on Saturday, falling 70-36. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Deer recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Second Baptist's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for St. Pius X, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Everything came up roses for Second Baptist against St. Pius X in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, as the team secured a 74-16 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
