Basketball Recap: Buena Vista Comes Up Short

Buena Vista lost against Centauri back in February of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Buena Vista Demons took a blow against the Centauri Falcons, falling 59-27. The Demons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-13.

When it comes to explaining why Buena Vista lost, don't look at Noah Bearss. Despite the final result, he posted nine points.

Centauri's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Troy Sowards, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Sowards' big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Haslett, who shot 60% from the field en route to 13 points and five boards.

Buena Vista's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Centauri, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 20-0.

Buena Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-40 defeat against Salida on the 25th. As for Centauri, they have also already played their next game, a 56-20 win against Pagosa Springs on the 22nd.
