Softball Game Preview: South Beloit Sobos vs. Polo Marcos

The South Beloit Sobos will head out on the road to square off against the Polo Marcos at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

South Beloit is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Orangeville, falling 16-1.

South Beloit saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macey Lineman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Meanwhile, Polo lost 13-1 to Eastland on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Marcos have suffered against the Cougars since April 24, 2017.

This is the second loss in a row for Polo and nudges their season record down to 4-14. As for South Beloit, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Polo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Beloit has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. It's a different story for Polo, though, as they've only averaged .295. Will they be able to contain South Beloit's hitters?

South Beloit suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Polo when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Sobos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
