Baseball Game Preview: Central Crossing Comets vs. Lincoln Lions

Central Crossing is 1-6 against Lincoln since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Comets will square off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Central Crossing's offense. They fell 3-0 to Grove City on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lincoln faced off against Pickerington North on Thursday. The Lions took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Lincoln got a good showing from Kyle Cripe, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Cripe has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jack Baker was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Anthony Pernotto also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Central Crossing, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.

Central Crossing suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Lincoln in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
