Baseball Recap: St. Bernard's Central Catholic Find Success

St. Bernard's Central Catholic came out on top against Quabbin Regional on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Bernardians took their matchup against the Panthers 10-5. For the Bernardians, this counts as revenge for the 8-0 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Austin Gibbons made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Dunbar, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Caden Laverdiere, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

St. Bernard's Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quabbin Regional only managed six.

The win made it two in a row for St. Bernard's Central Catholic and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Quabbin Regional, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Bernard's Central Catholic will face off against Fitchburg at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Quabbin Regional, they will take on Bromfield at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
