Baseball Recap: Soledad Takes a Loss

Soledad lost against Carmel back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Aztecs lost 10-3 to the Padres. The Aztecs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Vidal Perez put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Soledad's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-14 when he doesn't).

Perez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Valenzuela Jr, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Soledad's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Carmel, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-7.

Soledad has already played their next contest, an 11-3 loss against Liberty on the 10th. As for Carmel, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-0 defeat against Hollister on the 8th.
