Basketball Recap: Tongue River Starts Season with Victory Against Burns

Tongue River took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 64-57 victory over the Burns Broncs. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mason Medley and Shaw Martin certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Medley went 6 for 14 on his way to 12 points and eight steals, while Martin went 7 of 14 on his way to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Martin a new career-high. Bryce Hansen was another key player, putting up four points and four steals.

Burns is on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Tongue River didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-34 defeat against Southeast on the 13th. As for Burns, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-39 win against Moorcroft on the 13th.
