Softball Game Preview: Taylor Griffins vs. Woodhaven Warriors

Taylor hasn't had much luck against Woodhaven recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Griffins will host the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Taylor has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Taylor is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Allen Park.

Taylor saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelynn Waddell ?26, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Woodhaven had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Bears by a score of 8-3.

Natilee Pridemore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mia Taylor, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gracie Dixon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double.

Woodhaven's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Taylor, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Taylor suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Woodhaven in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Griffins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
