Basketball Game Preview: Back of the Yards College Prep Bobcats vs. Kennedy Crusaders

The Back of the Yards College Prep Bobcats will venture away from home to take on the Kennedy Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Back of the Yards College Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They managed a 39-33 victory over Chicago Military Academy back in December of 2024. The team accrued 29 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.

Belinda Rivera had an outrageously good game as she went 8 for 10 on her way to 17 points and eight rebounds. Those 17 points gave her a new career-high. Marlen Hernandez was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Kennedy entered their tilt with Victoria Soto on Wednesday with 13 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 14. Their defense stepped up to hand the Wolves a 1-0 shutout.

Kennedy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.6 points per game. As for Back of the Yards College Prep, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Back of the Yards College Prep came up short against Kennedy in their previous matchup back in December of 2018, falling 46-39. Can Back of the Yards College Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
