Softball Game Preview: South Lenoir Blue Devils vs. Martin County Gators

The South Lenoir Blue Devils will square off against the Martin County Gators on Tuesday. South Lenoir will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

South Lenoir is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Southeast Alamance with a sharp 13-6 victory. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Martin County posted their closest win since May 15, 2024 on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Eastern Wayne 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Erica Sturgill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit.

At the plate, Ty'Hiera Wooten was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

South Lenoir pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Martin County, their victory bumped their record up to 21-4.
