Basketball Game Preview: Miller Buccaneers vs. Edinburg North Cougars

The Miller Buccaneers and the Edinburg North Cougars will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Miller comes in on four and Edinburg North on five.

While Miller didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 49-37 victory over Mercedes on Friday. Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Miller to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charles Perry Jr, who shot 64% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Perry Jr is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Izaiah Gidrey was another key player, dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Edinburg North earned a 46-33 win over Veterans Memorial on Friday.

Miller's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Edinburg North, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Miller took a serious blow against Edinburg North in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 82-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Cougars' Raul Palacios, who went 13-for-17 en route to 39 points.
