Football Game Preview: Howland Tigers vs. Hubbard Eagles

The Howland Tigers will head out to square off against the Hubbard Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Howland took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They managed an 18-14 win over East. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Hubbard on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 31-6 margin over Struthers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Wildcats are ranked 422nd).

Howland better keep an eye on Braydon Songer. He was instrumental in Hubbard's win, rushing for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 351 yards while completing 73.3% of his passes. Songer also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass. 86 of Songer's passing yards were hauled in by Anthony Clark.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Hubbard, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Howland might still be hurting after the 24-3 loss they got from Hubbard in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Tigers, Alexander Hackwelder (who rushed for 100 yards and two scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
