Baseball Recap: Potsdam Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Potsdam walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the St. Lawrence Central Larries on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sandstoners have posted since May 22, 2024.

Nick Roda made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Chase Rozler was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Graham Rozler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Potsdam's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for St. Lawrence Central, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Potsdam will challenge Ogdensburg Free Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Sandstoners surely won't give up without a fight. St. Lawrence Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
