Volleyball Recap: Ari Davenport Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Litchfield

If Litchfield wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Marquette Catholic, they should've done a better job of containing Morgan Rister. The Explorers had just enough and edged out the Purple Panthers 2-1 thanks in part to Rister, who had 32 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Marquette Catholic got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 20-25, 27-25.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marquette Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ari Davenport, who had 13 assists and six digs. That's the most assists Davenport has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Keller, who had nine assists and seven digs.

Marquette Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-15 record this season. As for Litchfield, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-22.

Marquette Catholic has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against East Alton-Wood River on the 27th. As for Litchfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Gillespie on the 23rd.
