Basketball Recap: Central Academy Comes Up Short

Central Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Monroe Redhawks and fell 69-27. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.

When it comes to explaining why Central Academy lost, don't look at Jaylen Rogers. Despite the final result, he posted ten points. That was a full 37% of Central Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points.

Bryson Simpkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Monroe, going 7 for 10 en route to 19 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Jamari Clark, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Central Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Monroe, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Central Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 77-52 defeat against West Stanly on the 24th. Monroe has also already played their next contest, a 49-48 loss against Forest Hills on the 23rd.
