The Keys Gate Knights will challenge the Varela Vipers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Keys Gate's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Varela has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
While Keys Gate's win against Archbishop Carroll wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights skirted past the Bulldogs 7-5.

Jaime Osorio tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Keys Gate is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Keys Gate got a massive performance out of Anthony Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Hernandez has posted since back in February of 2025. Another player making a difference was Juan Pablo Casteneda, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Keys Gate lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, while Varela put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Hialeah Gardens. The Vipers walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Gladiators. The Vipers haven't had any issues with the Gladiators recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Giancarlo Quintero looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Ferreira, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Varela's victory bumped their record up to 3-6-1. As for Keys Gate, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Keys Gate came out on top in a nail-biter against Varela in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Vipers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
