Arroyo Valley and Fontana are an even 4-4 against one another since August of 2016, but not for long. The Hawks will welcome the Steelers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Arroyo Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 56-20 win over Notre Dame. Considering the Hawks have won six games by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Arroyo Valley had a senior duo take command as Joseph Stanley rushed for 200 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries and Jerome Weaver rushed for 131 yards and one score on only 11 carries. Stanley's longest rush was for an impressive 69 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Arroyo Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 527 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 177 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Arroyo Valley's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Cydrick Davis Iii was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Fontana hadn't done well against Carter recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Steelers claimed a resounding 35-0 victory over the Lions. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Steelers just coasted through the last quarter.
Arroyo Valley better keep an eye on Santiago Celedonio. He was instrumental in Fontana's win, rushing for 64 yards and one TD on only six carries, while also picking up 44 receiving yards.
Fontana didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Kordell Ingram led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Walter Guerra also forced onefumble, which is notable because Fontana is undefeated when he posts at least one forced fumble, but 2-3 otherwise. The Steelers got some further help from Jimmy Burciaga: he picked up two sacks, forced one fumble, and made 12 total tackles.
The win made it two in a row for Fontana and bumps their season record up to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.5 points over those games. As for Arroyo Valley, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Arroyo Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 307.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fontana struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 155.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Arroyo Valley was dealt a bruising 40-8 defeat at the hands of Fontana in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Hawks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
