Baseball Recap: Perquimans Gets the Win

Perquimans won the last time they faced Martin County and things went their way on Thursday too. The Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Gators. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Maddux Thach made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Thach was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Thach wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Coley Drew, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Perquimans kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Perquimans' record is now 13-4. As for Martin County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-3.

Perquimans wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-6 win against Gates County on the 15th. As for Martin County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-2 victory against Tarboro on the 15th.
