Softball Game Preview: Waukesha West Wolverines vs. Catholic Memorial Crusaders

The Waukesha West Wolverines will challenge the Catholic Memorial Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Catholic Memorial took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Waukesha West, who comes in off a win.

Waukesha West barely beat Waukesha North the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Northstars with a sharp 9-2 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Northstars: they've now won three in a row.

Anna Dornbach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Paige Kahle was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Kaiya Kraner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Catholic Memorial came up short against Mukwonago on Tuesday, falling 15-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Crusaders in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost four in a row.

Catholic Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Waukesha West, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Waukesha West took their win against Catholic Memorial in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 18-3 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
