Football Game Preview: Waskom Wildcats vs. Hawkins Hawks

The Waskom Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Hawkins Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Waskom's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three contests.

On Friday, Waskom earned a 34-21 win over Elysian Fields.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hawkins). They blew past Big Sandy 56-20 on Friday. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Hawks had established a 22-point advantage.

Waskom's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.9 points on average this season. As for Hawkins, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Everything came up roses for Waskom against Hawkins in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 62-16 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
