Baseball Recap: El Capitan Gets the Win

El Capitan proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 21) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the St. Michael Cardinals 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-0 on Saturday.

Paul Woods made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Woods was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Jairus Hammon was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

El Capitan's record is now 7-5. As for St. Michael, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Capitan will host Ash Fork/Seligman at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Capitan's pitchers better be ready for this one: Ash Fork/Seligman has averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season. As for St. Michael, they will square off against Fredonia at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
