Basketball Game Preview: Wetumka Chieftains vs. Wellston Tigers

The Wetumka Chieftains will venture away from home to square off against the Wellston Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wetumka has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Tuesday, Wetumka made easy work of New Lima and carried off a 75-50 victory. The Chieftains have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Wellston took on Glencoe on Tuesday. Wellston took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Glencoe. The Tigers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Wetumka's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Wellston, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Wetumka strolled past Wellston when the teams last played back in January of 2018 by a score of 67-49. Will Wetumka repeat their success, or does Wellston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
