Baseball Recap: New Hope-Solebury Wins Going Away Against Plumstead Christian

New Hope-Solebury had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-12 on Sunday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Plumstead Christian. The Lions not only won on Sunday, but they posted their biggest win since March 31st (when they won 13-1).

John Whelan tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Charlie Plebani was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake McCagg, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

As for Plumstead Christian, they moved to 11-5 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Plumstead Christian's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Santi Torres, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Chase Blattner was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, New Hope-Solebury will take on Solebury at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Plumstead Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
