Basketball Game Preview: Redfield Pheasants vs. Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] Battlers

The Redfield Pheasants will venture away from home to take on the Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] Battlers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Redfield has now lost 12 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 21.

Last Thursday, Redfield was beaten by Clark/Willow Lake 56-17. While losing is never fun, the Pheasants can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Cyclones are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Faith, falling 64-41.

Redfield will have to keep a close watch on PEYTON STEVENS and EMMA SCHLACHTER, a pair of players who had a big impact on Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven]'s prior game. STEVENS shot 5-for-8 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds, while SCHLACHTER went 8 for 14 on her way to 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals. SCHLACHTER is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played.

Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven]'s defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Redfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Redfield might still be hurting after the 58-32 defeat they got from Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Redfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
