Softball Recap: Oxford Comes Up Short

Oxford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 9-3 to the Avon Grove Red Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 6-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Oxford saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ericka Ortega, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Oxford's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Avon Grove, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 6-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Oxford is set to face off against their familiar foe Unionville at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Avon Grove will square off against rival Coatesville at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Avon Grove is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Coatesville a five-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
