Baseball Game Preview: Tipton Blue Devils vs. Taylor Titans

The Tipton Blue Devils will face off against the Taylor Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tipton will be strutting in after a victory while Taylor will be coming in after a defeat.

Tipton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Elwood on Friday as they made off with a 15-3 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Tipton got a massive performance out of Kellen Hussong, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Hussong has become a key player for the Blue Devils: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Caleb Hare, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Tipton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Taylor came up short against Caston on Saturday, falling 14-4.

Tipton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-15 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Taylor, their loss dropped their record down to 1-19.

Everything went Tipton's way against Taylor when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Tipton made off with a 12-6 victory. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
