Basketball Recap: Pine Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Atlantic Christian came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Pine, but Emily Shirk wouldn't allow it. The Pine Knights managed a 45-40 win over the Atlantic Christian Sharks on Friday thanks in part to Shirk, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 22 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Pine's points.

Another player making a difference was Aspen Schellenberg, who posted three points along with five boards and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Atlantic Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Jaidah Chase and Destiny Martinez. Chase put up 14 points, while Martinez scored 13 points. That was a full 35% of Atlantic Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Pine, bringing their record for this year to 11-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for Atlantic Christian, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.

Pine has already played their next matchup (against Lake Worth), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Atlantic Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-20 win against Odyssey Charter School on the 20th.
