Baseball Recap: Clovis East Comes Up Short

Clovis East extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 13-8 in the process. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clovis Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on Tuesday.

As for Clovis, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-12. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

For Clovis' part, Logan Georges looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Georges has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Peyton Barsotti and Deep Chohan did most of the damage at the plate: Barsotti went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Chohan went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Chohan is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Nick Caballero was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

While Clovis East had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
